From the Archives: NWS and Miami Heat Team Up on Stage
New World Symphony is cheering on The Miami Heat as they return to the court on October 28th for their 2015-16 season opener at the American Airlines Arena. As sister organizations, the New World Symphony and The Miami Heat have a few memorable moments together captured on camera.
In this poster created 25 years ago, The Miami Heat brought their talents to South Beach, teaming up with New World Symphony on the Lincoln Theatre stage, the former home of America’s Orchestral Academy.
Michael Tilson Thomas, NWS Artistic Director, and former Miami Heat Head Coach, Ron Rothstein took center stage for the photo, with NWS Fellows and Heat players filling in the orchestra seats around them.
Ted Arison brought the NBA franchise to South Florida in 1988, one year after his co-founding of New World Symphony. Arison and Thomas wanted to show, in those early years for both organizations, that they were collaborators in the rebuilding of Miami.
Go HEAT!
