Rebecca Reale

This season's Concerto Showcase concerts took place on February 20 & 21, featuring Concerto Competition winners second-year Clarinet Fellow Ran Kampel, first-year Violin Fellow Rebecca Reale, and former first-year Cello Fellow Austin Fisher who recently started the position of Assistant Principal Cello of the Colorado Symphony.

Led by guest conductor Ward Stare, Music Director of the Rochester Philharmonic, they performed Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, Schumann's Cello Concerto in A minor, and Carl Nielsen's Clarinet Concerto.

In a review in el Nuevo Herald entitled "La New World, un verdadero ‘concierto en vidriera’ " author Daniel raved, in Spanish, about the concert and its soloists, conductor, and the full orchestra. The superlatives in the article are innumerable.

The South Florida Classical Review had nothing but praise for this past Sunday's Chamber Music concert "Iberian Impressions." They reserved particular praise for guest soprano Julia Bullock.

"... the thrilling singing of a young American soprano was the afternoon’s major event."

They also singled out the leadership of Conducting Fellow Christian Reif, and the playing of several Fellows.

"In an afternoon of outstanding playing by the New World fellows, flutist [Masha] Popova and keyboard players John Wilson and Aya Yamamoto were stand outs."
