MTT Honored with UM Doctorate 20 Years Ago
May 5th and 6th were University of Miami’s annual commencement ceremonies.
Twenty years ago on May 10, 1996, NWS Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the University of Miami.
Other Hurricane honorees that day included historian David McCullough, founding NWS Board member Sister Jeanne O'Laughlin, General Norman Schwarzkopf, and football legend Don Shula.
