Pulse returns Nov. 9 with Latin Beats

Pulse: Late Night at the New World Symphony

The countdown is on! Friday, November 9 marks the first Pulse: Late Night at the New World Symphony of the season! Named by Miami New Times as Miami’s Best Classical Music Experience, this Pulse’s theme is Latin Beats and will feature the New World Symphony performing works with infectious rhythms by Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos, Ginastera and more. Making her Pulse debut is DJ Ella Romand—a music producer, pianist and Resident DJ at Miami Beach’s Do Not Sit On The Furniture. No stranger to NWS, Ella serves on the Friends of NWS’s Executive Committee and is excited to now be an even more integral part of this Pulse experience.

Joining NWS and DJ Ella is Julien Labro, one of the world’s leading bandoneón artists and an expert on the music of Piazzolla. What’s a bandoneón?? You might not know the name, but we guarantee you’ve heard its sounds. It’s the instrument making those tangos sultrier! Though it looks like an accordion, it’s sound is unique and essential to the music of Argentina. Julien will join Fellows in the performance hall, but be sure to stay for Pulse: Unplugged in the New World Center’s intimate SunTrust Pavilion at 11:00 PM to hear him join three Fellows for Piazzolla’s sensual Oblivion

As always, Pulse: Latin Beats will end with the world premiere of a work for DJ and orchestra by Sam Hyken—co-founder of Miami’s Nu Deco Ensemble and an NWS alumnus.

This is one night you won’t want to end! So, keep the party going at Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel (1701 Collins Ave. Pulse ticketholders will have free admission and drink specials from midnight to 2:00 AM, courtesy of the SLS Hotel!

Pulse is better (and cheaper) with friends!

Grab 10 or more friends and get 20% off tickets for Pulse! Contact NWS’s Concert Concierge Theo Reyna at 305.428.6746 or theo.reyna@nws.edu to get started.

A Sneak Peek at Pulsito on Oct. 18!

Get geared up with a taste of Pulse: Latin Beats on Thursday, October 18 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with PULSITO. NWS Fellows will be taking over the Lincoln Road Euclid Stage with DJ Ella Romand for a tribute to the rhythms of the Latin world, featuring Miami’s very own Cuban songstress, Leslie Cartaya.
