This Weekend's Guest Artist Pinchas Zukerman
Famed violinist and conductor Pinchas Zukerman returns to New World Symphony this weekend for the first NWS concert of the season at the Arsht Center. He will be performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto as well as conducting a master class for NWS Violin Fellows.
Zukerman appeared with NWS during the 1996–1997 season. For the concerts of December 12–15, 1996, he both conducted and was guest violin soloist, playing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5. A month later, for a concert at the Dade County Auditorium held by the Concert Association of Florida, he again conducted, but this time his solo instrument was the viola, as he was performing with violinist Itzhak Perlman, along with NWS Fellows. The featured work was Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major for Violin, Viola, and Orchestra.
Zukerman returned to NWS and the Lincoln Theatre in November 2003, as Music Director of Canada's National Arts Centre Orchestra. The group was on tour in the U.S. and Mexico and Zukerman conducted auditions including of several NWS Fellows. (see photos above)
